On the second day of NUFA3, housing affordability, sustainable mobility, and an inclusive urban environment were at the center of discussions
The 3rd Azerbaijan National Urban Forum (NUFA3), held in the city of Khankendi, continued its work on the second day with a series of panel sessions. Discussions focused on the most pressing issues of modern urban planning - from urban-rural linkages and housing policy to innovative urban solutions and inclusivity.
The day began with a panel session titled “Urban-Rural Linkages for Socio-Economic Growth, Territorial Equality and Environmental Sustainability.” The discussions touched upon the role of national urban policies in ensuring balanced territorial development, as well as planning sustainable and accessible communities in mountainous regions.
The Forum then proceeded with the panel “Housing Affordability at the Heart of a Just Urban Future.” Participants exchanged views on innovative financing models, public–private partnerships, and effective land and housing policies that reduce territorial disparities and support access to quality housing.
Another key discussion of the day was dedicated to “The Interrelation of Mobility, Data and Spatial Planning: Innovative Urban Solutions.” This session highlighted national-level coordination of sustainable mobility and urban planning, transit-oriented development, and the transformative impact of new data sources on urban planning.
Forum participants also actively joined the panels “Building Healthier Cities Through Design: Reimagining Urban Spaces for People’s Well-Being” and “Ensuring Accessibility and Inclusivity for All in Cities.” These sessions explored crucial topics such as urban safety as a prerequisite for well-being, the potential role of universities in the development of regional ecosystems, preserving social inclusivity amid rapid urban expansion, and addressing the needs of women, youth, and children in urban environments.
