On 8 October, on the sidelines of the 86th session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management dedicated to housing affordability and sustainability, a productive meeting took place in Geneva between Anar Quliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, and Mr. Martin Tschirren, State Secretary and Director-General of the Federal Housing Office of the Swiss Confederation.

 

During the meeting, the sides discussed opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in housing policy, particularly the promotion of sustainable and affordable solutions, as well as experience-sharing in innovative housing finance mechanisms.

 

Anar Quliyev emphasized the significance of housing policy in the global agenda and invited the Swiss delegation to actively participate in the World Urban Forum to be held in May 2026 in Baku under the theme “Adequate Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements.”
