The State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture held the international conference on "Achievements, problems and current trends in urban planning in the CIS space".
The scientific-practical conference was held within the framework of the "Year of Architecture and Urban Planning".
A scientific-practical conference on "Achievements, problems and current trends in urban planning in the CIS" was held in the format of a video conference organized by the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, with the participation of member states of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction activity area of the CIS member states, as well as representatives of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Baku State Design Institute, and international and local experts in urban planning and spatial planning. Opening the conference, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov congratulated member states on the 30th anniversary of the CIS in 2021 and stated the importance of developing cooperation among the participating countries in various areas of the Council's activities, including the preparation of urban planning documents, architectural and construction work, production of construction materials, products and structures, as well as engineering research.
During the meeting, presentations were made reflecting the new approaches used in the preparation of the Master Plans of Baku and Ganja, the process of spatial planning and design. During the event, along with the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, relevant presentations of experts from the relevant agencies of the Russian Federation, Moldova, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan on current problems in urban planning and architecture in the CIS countries and their solutions, the application of modern technologies in design, as well as achievements in this field were heard and they exchanged views on topical issues of mutual interest.
In addition, international experts who participated in the event made presentations on the digital transformation of cities, the protection of cultural and historical heritage and modeling the rapid transfer of knowledge in the field of urban planning. During the event, there was a wide exchange of views on the above topics, discussions were held on the prospects and directions of development in these areas, questions were answered. It should be noted that according to the "Action Plan" approved by the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS states on May 29, 2020, 2021 is celebrated in the CIS as the "Year of Architecture and Urban Planning" and It is planned to hold an "Architecture and Urban Planning Competition with the participation of young architects in the CIS" in the autumn of this year, as well as the 42nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction in the CIS member states under the chairmanship of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture in Baku.
