Chairman’s congratulations on World Architecture Day
Dear and esteemed architects,
Every year, on the first Monday of October, architects around the world celebrate their professional holiday, drawing attention to this delicate art with ancient and rich traditions that plays a significant role in urban planning, while emphasizing the importance of preserving it for future generations.
World Architecture Day, which reminds us of the important role architecture plays in society, is a significant date celebrated with pride by Azerbaijani architects as well.
This day serves as a reminder that architecture is not only about the design of urban spaces, but also about creating environments that influence human well-being, shaping both cultural heritage and the future.
Since ancient times, Azerbaijan has been renowned for architectural masterpieces that embody a harmony between nature, national traditions, and modernity. From unique historical monuments to modern skyscrapers, our architectural heritage is a true source of inspiration for future generations.
However, architecture is not only about honoring the past, but also a field that demands innovative approaches. Rapid urbanization, climate change challenges, and the necessity for sustainable development present new problems for architects. Therefore, we must not only build comfortable and aesthetically appealing structures, but also ecologically sustainable, energy-efficient, and safe urban spaces.
Today, one of our main tasks is the application of advanced technologies in construction, reducing negative impacts on the environment, and creating favorable conditions for the comfortable living of our citizens. It can be confidently stated that, as in the past, in our present era, our architects are highly sensitive to these factors, approaching them with great professionalism, and skillfully preserving national architectural traditions in the modern examples they create.
The results produced by our architects in the planned and systematic urban planning processes, carried out under the leadership of our esteemed President, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, including in the liberated territories, give us every reason to say that the future of Azerbaijani architecture is in reliable hands and that they are determined to make even greater contributions to the flourishing of our homeland.
On this significant day, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all our architects for their dedication to their profession and for their tireless efforts in the progress of our country. On behalf of the staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, I extend my most sincere and heartfelt wishes.
Happy holiday!
