Ahead of WUF13, the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign (AUC2026) continues
As part of the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign, a discussion on “Gender-Responsive Safe and Inclusive Cities” was held today.
Organized at the initiative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and co-organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and Gender Hub Azerbaijan, the event covered issues of gender equality in urban planning, the involvement of women in urban planning processes, and youth participation in urban development. The discussion also addressed the suitability of the urban environment in terms of safety, inclusivity, and mobility.
Representatives of the Committee, along with experts in gender, sustainability, and inclusivity, as well as representatives of UN-Habitat, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, and civil society organizations, took part in the discussion.
The discussions laid the initial groundwork for future cooperation in gender-equality-based urban planning and once again highlighted the relevance of this topic in the context of WUF13, which will take place in Baku in May next year.
