On September 23, during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly and New York Climate Week, the COP29 Presidency, the UN-Habitat, and the "Local Governments for Sustainability" (ICLEI) jointly organized the presentation of the " Multisectoral Actions Pathways to Resilient and Healthy Cities" (MAP) initiative as part of the COP29 "Action Agenda."
At the event, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Claudia Rozbaugh, Executive Director of the UN-Habitat, Yalchin Rafiyev, Chief Advisor of COP29 and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Cecilia Kinusiya-Nyenka, Director of the Intergovernmental Support and Collective Progress section of the Framework Convention on Climate Change, spoke and provided detailed information about the initiative.
Chairman Anar Guliyev noted that a Ministerial meeting on Urbanisation Day would be held on November 20 as part of COP29, and that by signing a Declaration to join this initiative, significant steps would be taken towards creating more sustainable and healthy cities for future generations.
