The State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture held an urban planning workshop in the framework of the EU Expert Mission
In the framework of the EU Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX), the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a workshop on 13-14 February 2019 participated by the expert mission to Baku.
During the two-day workshop, the EU Member States’ experts Wolfgang Katzman and Vilmantas Povilaitis representing Austrian and Lithuanian competent state authorities familiarized the employees of respective departments of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture with of the EU Member States’ practical knowledge and broad experience regarding urban development regulation strategies. A broad exchange of views resulted from the presentations made during the event focusing on the EU experience relating to the standards and legislation introduced and implemented through the use of the EU urban and area planning documentation system, and effective collection and storage of data on the types of real estate ownership existing in Austria and Lithuania.
In this context, Ilgar Isbatov, Director of the Baku State Design Institute under the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, familiarized the workshop participants and foreign experts with the current strategies implemented in Azerbaijan to regulate the country’s urban planning policy and provided information on the country’s legal framework.

TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument managed by the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission. TAIEX supports partner countries in the European neighborhood with regard to the approximation, application, and enforcement of EU legislation. EU Member States experts are sent to the beneficiary administration to share EU best practices regarding relevant areas.
