On February 14-15, 2023, a delegation led by the Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Guliyev visited the Arab Republic of Egypt. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with Egypt's Urban Planning Policy and its implementation experience, expand bilateral relations and discuss the possibilities of cooperation within international platforms.

As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the area where the first stage of the "New Capital" project of Egypt with a population of more than five million people is being implemented, got acquainted with the "government town", residential quarters and other construction projects for other purposes on the spot. Anar Guliyev held a large-scale meeting with Minister Assem el Gazzar in the new administrative building of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, built on the territory of the "New Capital", which implements these and many other new urban projects. During the meeting, the Minister was informed about the continuous reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the field of urban planning, state policy in this area and large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the territories of our country liberated from occupation, an exchange of experience on institutional management in territorial planning was held, a detailed exchange of views on the possibilities of cooperation in bilateral and regional formats took place.

As part of the visit, members of our delegation held a number of meetings with officials responsible for various activities of the Ministry, held talks on relevant topics, including Azerbaijan's participation in the 12th World Urban Planning Forum, which will be held in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in 2024.
