The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, held a workshop-consultation on "Trends and prospects in the architectural design of the buildings constructed in Baku." The heads of the relevant agencies, representatives of about 15 project organizations and architects participated at the event.
The purpose of the event, which took place on the recommendations of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, was to improve the quality of construction projects, provide a more professional approach to architectural activities, to adapt to the urban environment formed in the areas where they are located, to promote the application of modern technologies in design work by inspiring national architectural traditions in architectural solutions of buildings in the capital and meeting modern architectural principles and tendencies.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, Eldar Azizov, Head of Baku Executive Authority  said that as a result of complex work carried out by the decrees of President Ilham Aliyev in recent years, Baku is now among the most beautiful cities in the world. The capital has not only developed, but also reached a qualitatively new level. The housing stock in the city is growing every day, and taking this into account, the national architectural traditions, the existing harmony in new buildings must be preserved, the construction of infrastructure in accordance with construction standards, parking lots, creation of recreation areas in the yards must be controlled.
Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture spoke about the large-scale construction work carried out in the country, including Karabakh and East Zangazur, in accordance with the President's instructions, emphasizing that various urban planning and infrastructure projects are being implemented in the liberated territories, the projects pay special attention to the geographical structure of the area, national-architectural traditions and normative requirements, emphasizing the role of architects in these processes. 
Chairman of the Committee stated that as a result of the special attention paid by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the development of the urban planning and construction sector, radical reforms have been carried out in this area recently. He also noted that the organization of architectural competitions by the Committee to attract the best local and international experts to this activity is one of the priorities.
Anar Guliyev spoke about the shortcomings and problems encountered in design and construction in recent years and drew attention to their solutions. It was also noted that the study and application of progressive approaches used worldwide in all planned, designed and constructed complexes, buildings and facilities, the formation of a sustainable and sustainable urban environment that will ensure the comfort, safety and well-being of our citizens are key tasks.
Speaking at the event, Elbay Gasimzadeh, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan Elbay Gasimzadeh spoke about the current importance of architecture and the uniqueness of this art. He noted the issue of specialization of young architects and the importance of giving preference to companies that employ professionals in design work.
Then, Ilgar Isbatov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture made a broad report on the topic. The participants were informed about the buildings in the city, including the shortcomings encountered in previous years in the preparation of urban planning and construction projects, the results of the analysis conducted by the Committee to improve the quality of projects and the work to be done. During the event, the importance of the application of modern technologies in design was emphasized, it was noted that a number of Azerbaijani companies have taken important steps in mastering new technologies, thereby have achieved increasing the efficiency and quality of design and construction of facilities.
The Committee gave relevant recommendations to the design organizations regarding the fact that the shortcomings and defects encountered in some construction projects, the styles used in the project proposals do not jeopardize the architectural appearance of the city, as well as to improvement  the quality of projects.
Afterwards, there was a detailed exchange of views between the representatives of the project companies and architects participating in the event, their questions were answered by the heads of the organizations, and their suggestions were noted.
