On April 25, 2025, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a Decree appointing the national coordinator for the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is scheduled to take place in 2026 in Baku.

According to the Decree, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Anar Guliyev, has been appointed as the national coordinator for WUF13. He has been tasked with overseeing and organizing all preparatory activities related to the Forum.

The World Urban Forum is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting this major international event reflects Azerbaijan’s growing role in addressing global urban development challenges and its commitment to promoting inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities.
