On September 23, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the UN-Habitat, during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

 

During the meeting, the importance of the cooperation between the UN-Habitat and Azerbaijan was emphasized, starting from the 1st and 2nd Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forums held in 2022 and 2023, which resulted in the establishment of a platform supporting the development of sustainable cities in the region.

 

Anar Guliyev also announced that the dates for the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), to be held in Baku in 2026, have been confirmed, and it will take place from May 18 to 22.

 

Additionally, discussions were held regarding joint initiatives in sustainable urban planning and future objectives in this area.
