Azerbaijan participates in the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo
Led by Chairman Anar Guliyev, the Azerbaijani delegation is participating in the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt, organized by UN-Habitat. Among the delegates are Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, Aydın Karimov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha district, Vahid Hajiyev, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, as well as representatives from the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Azerbaijan’s national pavilion at the forum showcases the country’s achievements in post-conflict reconstruction, sustainable urban planning, and cultural heritage preservation. The exhibition, titled “Building Back better: Azerbaijan’s Journey to Sustainable and Peaceful Urban Development,” features projects on creating resilient cities, promoting climate initiatives, expanding international cooperation, and the innovative solutions of the “Great Return” program. Notable highlights include the transformation of demined areas into safe, sustainable regions and the systematic urban planning efforts that integrate heritage preservation with innovative policies.
Additionally, the pavilion announces that Baku will host the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in 2026, marking it as a future hub for global urban planning discussions.
Running through November 8, the forum will provide committee representatives with opportunities to engage in discussions on urban development, innovation, and climate resilience, facilitating knowledge exchange with international experts and stakeholders.
