President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the work carried out at the Ganja Memorial Complex
Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev informed the head of state and the first lady about the work carried out here.
The foundation of the Ganja Memorial Complex was laid by President Ilham Aliyev in January 2022. The Complex, which will reflect the crimes committed by the Armenian army against the civilian population during the 44-day Patriotic War, is being created on the territory of residential buildings and a former park that were subjected to rocket attacks. The Complex, which will have a total area of 4 hectares, will have a two-story museum building and an exhibition hall. An exposition on crimes committed against the civilian population, as well as the locations of destroyed buildings, will be demonstrated to visitors. A conference hall will also be created in the complex. Greening works will be carried out in the park in the area, about 700 trees, more than 12 thousand decorative bushes and flowers will be planted. The depth of the spiral crater, symbolizing the trace of the missile fired by the Armenian army, is 13 meters. Currently, the final completion of the construction of the museum building, as well as the organization of the exposition and landscaping of the territory are being carried out.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan immediately after the war came up with peace initiatives, carried out consistent work for the realization of the peace agenda, and a peace treaty has already been initialed between the parties. Nevertheless, such complexes play an important role in ensuring that the war crimes committed against our people are not forgotten and that our history is conveyed to future generations.
