The next meeting of the interagency Working Group on the preparation of the Master Plan of Baku city was held
The work on the preparation of the Master Plan of Baku city continues according to the schedule. The next meeting of the Working Group was held on September 18, 2019, formed by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture to coordinate all the participants.
During this meeting of the Working Group, which is represented by many ministries, state committees and other relevant government agencies at both management and expert level, the work done in the past has been presented, the preliminary reviews of urban planning by international and local experts have been discussed. Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov praised the fruitful cooperation of the Working Groups over the past period and provided information on proposals for strategic projects to be included in the Master Plan. The Vice-Speaker said that strategic projects implemented on the initiative and with the participation of relevant government agencies are based on the identified development priorities of Baku and invited the participants to actively discuss selected projects. At the same time, it was reported that various information provided by 31 government agencies to date has been systematized and put into use by a team of experts working on the Master Plan.
After that, the winner of the international tender for the development of the Master Plan of Baku city, the representative of the “AS + P” urban planning company Frank Höf, the project manager, made a presentation on a number of city planning and development solutions based on the development priorities of Baku city. Urban planning covered such topics, as (1) "Multicenter Urban Formation and Efficient Use of Territories", (2) "Public Transport Networks and Their Integration to Provide Urban Population", and (3) "Modern Urban Economy - Promoting Future Economic Development". The sessions, led by the officials of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and BCG consultants, were followed by detailed discussions on proposed views and solutions on all three topics, and feedback from relevant government agencies. At the same time, a discussion and preliminary assessment of some strategic projects presented at the meeting, which will play a role in the implementation of the Master Plan of Baku, will serve the sustainable and systematic development of the city in the short and long term.
It should be noted that the first meeting of the Working Group was held in June of this year and the activity involves increasing the efficiency of works on the preparation of the Master Plan of Baku by the Committee on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, organization of information exchange between government agencies and future development of the city, and combining efforts in accordance with a unified approach to large-scale planning.
