The State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture launches second stage of “Architectural face of Absheron settlements” competition program
Baku City Main Department of Architecture and Urban Planning invites you to participate in the competition for architectural planning solutions of Buzovna settlement.
The competition program was presented at www.absheronsimasi.az.
The Absheron Peninsula, one of the ancient settlements of Azerbaijan, which serves as a bridge between East and West, has always been rich in unique cultural samples and historical monuments, and traces of various cultures and civilizations still live in this area. According to the order of President Ilham Aliyev, special landscaping works have been started in Baku and settlements of Absheron region since 2019, and as in the whole territory of our country, the peninsula's appearance is becoming more beautiful due to the huge landscaping, restoration and reconstruction work carried out here in recent years, and new magnificent and unique buildings are being built. To revive the spirit of national art of Absheron, to breathe new life with the styles and unique colors of the local school of architecture, the Committee held a competition "Architectural face of Absheron settlements." The first stage of the competition program covered Ramana, Pirshaghi and Amirjan settlements, and based on the participants' proposals, reconstruction works were launched in Pirshaghi settlement on April 16 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. Landscaping works in the settlement will be carried out both on existing buildings and in open spaces.
In order to stimulate the work, to preserve and revive the history, antiquity and architecture of Absheron, the Baku City Main Department of Architecture and Urban Planning under the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly with the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan and “Baku Landscaping Service” LLC starts the second stage of the competition called "Architectural face of Absheron settlements". This time, the competition program will cover Buzovna settlement, located in the north-east of Absheron and one of the ancient settlements. The projects submitted to the competition with a total prize fund of 20,000 manat should reflect such important points as the development of aesthetic appearance and quality of life in Buzovna settlement, the definition of originality and environmental solution.
Those wishing to participate in the competition must register by May 31, 2021, and projects must be submitted to the Baku City Main Department of Architecture and Urban Planning no later than June 28, 2021, at 18:00. In addition, a video presentation explaining the project submitted by the participants no later than July 5, 2021, should be sent to mail@abseronsimasi.az. Please note that project authors can participate individually or in groups. Projects must be submitted in full. There is no charge for participation in the competition.
According to the results to be announced on July 22, 2021, 4 people selected by the jury will be awarded. The first-place winner will receive 10,000 manat and a first-class diploma, and the second-place winner will receive 5,000 manat and a second-class diploma. The winners of the 3rd place (two places) will be awarded 2,500 manat each and a diploma of the 3rd degree. Other participants will receive incentive prizes and participation certificates. It should be noted that the author of the project will be involved in the process if the landscaping work is carried out based on the selected project.

To immortalize the uniqueness of the Absheron Peninsula and preserve historical and architectural traditions and pass them on to future generations, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture plans to implement competition programs that will cover other settlements.
