On October 12, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Guliyev received Minister of Environment and Urban Development of the Republic of Turkey Murat Kurum. Welcoming the guest, the Chairman of the committee said he was pleased with his visit to our country and emphasized his appreciation of the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the field of urban planning, architecture, and construction.

Noting that the political and moral support of brotherly Turkey was always felt during the Great Patriotic War, the chairman of the Committee emphasized that relations between the two countries were at the highest level in all spheres of history and it was achieved due to the joint efforts and instructions of the heads of both states. Anar Guliyev emphasized that important steps have been taken to further strengthen bilateral relations in the field of Urban Development, and noted that online meetings and video conferences on organization of “smart cities”, conformity of construction work to the requirements of territorial planning documents, development of reconstruction of cities and other topics  have been actively organized at the level of experts of both organizations over the recent period for the purpose of exchange of experience and information in the field of Urban Development and construction.

Then the Chairman of the Committee informed the Minister about the reforms carried out due to the special attention of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the development of urban planning and their results, the general activities of the Committee and the main projects, as well as large-scale work to revive the liberated territories.

Thanking for the warm reception, Minister Murat Kurum said that Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, which are an example to the whole world show the steady development, the high level of cooperation, the strength and inviolability of comprehensive relations. He noted that, as in other areas, the existing relations in the field of architecture and urban planning are developing on an upward trajectory, and he was glad that Turkey has the opportunity to closely participate in the reconstruction and restoration of the liberated territories. The Minister also touched upon the main activities and priorities of his organization, emphasizing that there are wide opportunities for the development of bilateral relations in several areas.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the topic, discussed the implementation of joint projects and opportunities for future cooperation in this field.
