As part of Climate Action Week, sustainable urban planning issues were discussed today
As part of the first-ever Climate Action Week organized in Azerbaijan, a session titled “Urban Context – Built Environment, Risks, and Resilience” was held, opened by the Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, Anar Guliyev.
During the discussions, Chairman Anar Guliyev highlighted the “Multisectoral Actions Pathways to Resilient and Healthy Cities” (MAP) initiative put forward by the COP29 Presidency.
He emphasized that sustainable urbanization and improving the quality of life in cities are key components of the national development policy of the Azerbaijani government. He also noted that the preparation of Baku’s Master Plan for 2040 and the successful projects implemented in the "zero waste zones" declared in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur reflect a new approach to urban planning.
