18th of October - Happy Independence Day!
Dear compatriots!
On behalf of the entire staff of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I sincerely congratulate each of you on the occasion of the State Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On October 18, 1991, at the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the "Constitutional Act on the State Independence of Azerbaijan" was adopted. With this historic document, our people have achieved the freedom they have longed for many years. Thus, Azerbaijan gained independence for the second time in a century, gaining the opportunity to create its own sovereign state. Today, 29 years have passed since that glorious date - the day when Azerbaijan, as the successor of the Democratic Republic, regained its state independence.
History has repeatedly shown that maintaining independence is much more difficult than gaining it. On the one hand, the First Karabakh War, aggravated by the aggression of the armed forces of Armenia, and on the other hand, political conflicts within the country threatened to suffocate in the cradle of independence. However, at the insistence of the people, the return to power of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, who had extensive political experience, eliminated this threat and began to strengthen the political and economic foundation of our independence.
As a result of the purposeful policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in recent years, our country has become one of the most powerful countries in the world politically, economically and militarily. The people of Azerbaijan are justly proud of the achievements of the successful internal and foreign policy pursued by the President in recent years. Today, the independent Azerbaijan Republic is a real source of pride for every citizen and our compatriots living abroad.
Today each of us lives a fateful and proud history of our country. This story wis written by our heroic soldiers and officers on the battlefield under the leadership of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The aggressive policy of Armenia, which we have faced since the first days of our independence, is coming to an end today. Today, as a result of the successful military campaign of the powerful Azerbaijani army, which is determined to ensure the national security of our republic, the well-being of our people, the protection of our borders, territorial integrity and the liberation of our occupied lands, the Azerbaijani flag flies in dozens of liberated settlements. Today there is no doubt that thanks to the courage of our brave soldiers and officers who guard the Motherland around the clock and are ready to die for the Motherland, all our lands will soon be liberated from the occupation.
Once again, I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on Independence Day, hoping to celebrate the 30th anniversary of state independence in the liberated historical lands of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where the territorial integrity has been fully restored, and I wish each of us to experience the joy of the Great Victory.
