On September 30, 2024, within the framework of Baku Climate Week, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and the International Finance Corporation for the preparation of a roadmap for the development concept of green buildings in Azerbaijan. The document was signed by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Aliya Azimova, representative of the International Finance Corporation in Azerbaijan.

The memorandum envisions the establishment of cooperation between the parties aimed at preparing a roadmap for the development of green buildings and forming joint actions to further expand partnership in the field of ecological and sustainable construction. The primary tasks include the precise identification of all necessary resources required for the implementation of the roadmap and covering the execution mechanisms.

According to the document, effective tools for promoting "green construction" principles in Azerbaijan are expected to be created, which will contribute to reducing the environmental impact of the construction sector and lowering CO2 emissions.
