On public servants’ professional holiday, the employees of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and its subordinate entities participated in the chess tournament held on 23 June 2019. Organized by the Joint Trade Union organization of the Committee, the event’s purpose is to encourage the employees’ logical and systematic thinking, creative capacity, and goal orientation.

The competition comprised 9 tournaments conducted by a professional referee of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The competition was also participated by representatives of the Trade Union Republican Committee of Government Agencies and Public Service workers. The State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture awarded the top 3 winners of the competition with honorary diplomas and valuable gifts.

Following the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the role of public servants in the process of building a democratic, legal and secular state” dated 25 May 2006 and the UN General Assembly’s designation of June 23 as the UN Day of Public Service, June 23 is observed as the professional Holiday of Public Servants in Azerbaijan.
