In 2021, it is planned to organize the 42nd meeting of the Council in Azerbaijan, as well as a scientific-practical conference and architectural competition within the "Year of Architecture and Urban Planning".

On November 3, the next 40th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was organized by the Ministry of Construction of Uzbekistan, which currently chairs the council, in Tashkent in the format of video conference. The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, a member of the Council on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was represented at this meeting by Deputy Chairman of the Committee Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov and other officials.
The meeting discussed the norms and rules of construction planning and organization, as well as the improvement of urban infrastructure, the application of modern technologies in design, events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2021 as well as other joint projects and appropriate decisions were made. In addition, the meeting discussed the action plan to mark 2021 as the "Year of Architecture and Urban Development" by the CIS member states. According to the plan, next year Azerbaijan will host a scientific-practical conference on "Achievements, problems and current trends in urban planning in the CIS" and "Architecture and urban planning competition with the participation of young architects from the CIS countries". At the same time, the 42nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction is planned to be held in 2021 under the chairmanship of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture in Azerbaijan.

The Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in Construction of the CIS Member States was established in 1994 to form a coordinated policy in the field of construction in the member countries of the Commonwealth, to organize the coordinated projects of relevant agencies to ensure sustainable development of the construction sector. The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a member of the Intergovernmental Council. The activities of the Council are mainly aimed at the development of cooperation in the field of construction, including the conduct of engineering research in construction, design, development of urban planning documents, architectural activities, production of construction materials, construction organization, etc.
